Jezzie Lowe
Barn Owner, Lesson and Training Program, Registered Veterinary Technician, CHA Certified Riding Instructor, 4H Advisor
Member: American Paint Horse Association; American Quarter Horse Association; Certified Horsemanship Association; Union County Horse Council
Background: Jezzie has been riding and showing and has owned horses since the age of 6. She started out at Middleground Stables in Pataskala, Ohio, where she learned Hunter Seat equitation under the instruction of Ann Grossman. She rode competitively until she went to the University of Dayton in 1990, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. She continued to ride as a hobby at barns in Dayton and Plain City until three years ago. She then started to teach her daughter Maddie to ride. She decided that it was time to fulfill her life-long dream of owning her own facility. Jezzie graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in June 2007 and is registered with the state of Ohio as a Veterinary Technician. She successfully completed the CHA Certified Riding Instructor Clinic in August 2007. Jezzie's plans for the future include becoming a Licensed Equine Chiropractor and one day opening a Therapeutic Riding facility. She currently volunteers at the Union County Humane Society.
Teaching Philosophy: Her goal was to open a fun, family-oriented, affordable lesson barn in the area, where kids AND their parents, along with new adult riders, could learn to ride and take care of these wonderful animals. At Harvest Moon Acres it is not all about who has the most expensive horse, about just jumping on and riding, or who can win the most ribbons. It is about learning how much horses fulfill and enrich our lives, and about bringing families and friends closer together through their love of horses. She has been influenced by riding greats George Morris and Julie Goodnight.
In her own words: " Having a barn of my own has been a life-long dream of mine. I'm amazed every time I look out my kitchen window and see what we have accomplished. I am even more amazed when I see a child's eyes when they are in the saddle for the first time, or when I see one of my adult students accomplish a much-sought-after canter. We are truly blessed that these glorious animals allow us to be a part of their lives. I can't imagine my life without horses,
and I am so thankful that I have the means by which to share my passion with those around me."
